Charolette, North Carolina-The SMU Mustangs men’s basketball opened play in the ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament with an impressive performance Tuesday, defeating the Syracuse Orange men’s basketball 86–69 in the first round.
SMU controlled the pace for much of the game and pulled away in the second half to secure the win. The victory improves the Mustangs’ record to 20–12 on the season.
Boopie Millier was the Mustangs leading scorer
Boopie Miller led SMU with 25 points, while Jaron Pierre Jr. added 21 points. Jaden Toombs contributed 16 points, helping power the Mustangs’ offense.
With the win, SMU advances to the second round of the tournament, where the Mustangs will face the Louisville Cardinals men’s basketball.
