TEXARKANA, Texas (Texas News Sports) — A recent graduate of Texarkana Independent School District has received national recognition for her commitment to service and leadership, according to district officials.
Texarkana ISD said 2025 Texas High School graduate Mattison Wiley, now a student at University of Central Arkansas, was named one of three recipients nationwide of The Storage Center’s Spring 2026 Space to Succeed Scholarship.

According to the district, Wiley was selected from more than 2,000 applicants and received a $5,000 scholarship in recognition of her leadership and dedication to community service.
“Mattison embodies the very best of what it means to be a Texas High Tiger,” Ben Renner, chief of secondary schools at Texarkana ISD, said in a statement released by the district. “She is a leader, a servant, and a young woman who saw needs around her and chose to take action.”
Texarkana ISD said Wiley devoted hundreds of hours to community service while attending Texas High School, participating in literacy initiatives, food insecurity programs, healthcare outreach efforts and mentoring opportunities.
The district also said Wiley developed a Return to Texas High School Orthopedic Injury Checklist, a resource designed to help student-athletes safely transition back to school activities following injuries.
According to Texarkana ISD, Wiley has continued her commitment to service while attending college and plans to spend part of her summer serving through AmeriCorps VISTA with CHRISTUS Health.
District officials said Wiley’s accomplishment reflects Texarkana ISD’s goal of preparing students for lives of leadership, service and community involvement.
“Success isn’t measured only by awards and accolades,” Renner said in the district’s release. “It’s measured by the difference our graduates make in the lives of others. Mattison’s story is a powerful example of the kind of impact we hope every Texarkana ISD student is inspired to pursue.”
Texarkana ISD said Wiley’s national recognition serves as a source of pride for the district and an example for current students pursuing their own paths toward leadership and service.
