A Texas-based egg producer is voluntarily recalling nearly 1.6 million dozen eggs after the products were found to have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella Enteritidis, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Midwest Poultry Services, L.P. said it is recalling 1,589,577 dozen white shell eggs and brown cage-free eggs produced at its Texas facilities between June 6 and July 3.
Recalled eggs in several Southern states
The recalled eggs were distributed to retail and foodservice customers in several Southern states, including stores such as Kroger and Brookshire’s. The affected products have sell-by or best-by dates ranging from July 20 through Aug. 17.
