TEXARKANA, Texas — The Texarkana Arts & Historic District Committee has released its official 10-Year Cultural District Report, highlighting a decade of growth and investment since the district was designated a Texas Cultural District by the Texas Commission on the Arts in 2016, according to the City of Texarkana, Texas.

City officials said the report was submitted as part of the district’s required 10-year recertification process with the Texas Commission on the Arts. The report provides a comprehensive overview of the district’s accomplishments over the past decade, including redevelopment projects, public art initiatives, tourism efforts, economic impact and cultural programming.

The city said the district files annual reports to maintain its designation, but the 10-year report offers a broader look at the long-term transformation of downtown Texarkana.

“We are proud to share with our community and visitors just how much downtown has grown over the last decade,” Texarkana Arts & Historic District Committee Manager Brooke Stone said in a statement released by the city. “This progress didn’t happen overnight. It is the result of years of collaboration and investment by our committee members, local businesses, community leaders, and the residents and visitors who continue to support downtown.”

According to the city, the report highlights several major redevelopment projects, including the Lofts at the Grim, the Courthouse Square Revitalization, and the Front Street Festival Plaza and Loading Dock. Officials said it also outlines ongoing and future developments, including Landmark on Pine, The Patterson Place and The Assembly Line.

The report also highlights a 2023 economic impact study that found district-related arts and cultural activities generate approximately $9.1 million in annual economic impact, according to the city.
