DPS: Four Arrested in Austin Operation; Fifth Suspect Sought

DPS Arrested Austin Operation

AUSTIN, Texas — Four men were arrested in Northwest Austin earlier this month during a joint law enforcement operation connected to an alleged San Antonio home invasion, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

DPS said the Texas Rangers worked with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office to locate suspects allegedly connected to a June 15 home invasion in northeast San Antonio. The four arrests were made July 8.

According to DPS, the Texas Rangers began assisting the sheriff’s office last month in locating 21-year-old Rodney Robinson III. Investigators allegedly linked Robinson to the home invasion and used investigative information, including automated license plate reader hits involving a vehicle associated with him, to identify an apartment complex near RM 2222 and McNeil Drive in Northwest Austin.

DPS said Texas Rangers and Criminal Investigations Division special agents saw Robinson and another person leave the apartment complex in the vehicle around 12:45 p.m. July 8.

Texas Highway Patrol troopers attempted to stop the vehicle, but DPS said Robinson allegedly refused to stop, leading to a brief pursuit. Troopers used a Precision Immobilization Technique maneuver to stop the vehicle, but Robinson allegedly fled on foot, according to DPS. Troopers eventually apprehended him after deploying a Taser.

DPS said Robinson was arrested on a charge of evading arrest with a motor vehicle and outstanding warrants for alleged evading arrest with a vehicle, unlawful carrying of a weapon and possession of marijuana.

The passenger, identified by DPS as 23-year-old Devion Sommers, remained at the vehicle and was arrested on an outstanding murder charge in an unrelated case, along with charges of burglary of a habitation with intent to commit another felony and engaging in organized criminal activity, DPS said.

Several hours later, Texas Rangers SWAT executed a search warrant at a third-floor residence in the apartment complex. DPS said two additional suspects allegedly attempted to escape by climbing down an exterior balcony but were located by law enforcement.

DPS identified the men as Nehemiah Pratt, 21, and Kentrell Guillory, 19. Both were arrested on charges of burglary of a habitation with intent to commit another felony and engaging in organized criminal activity, DPS said. Guillory was also arrested on an outstanding murder warrant from Louisiana.

DPS said law enforcement recovered 11 firearms and illegal drugs from the vehicle and residence during the operation.

According to DPS, Sommers, Pratt and Guillory remain in custody. Robinson was released on bond before additional felony warrants connected to the alleged San Antonio home invasion were issued in Bexar County, DPS said. He remains wanted.
