Sherman Man Arrested Intoxication Crash

SHERMAN, Texas — A 21-year-old man was arrested Tuesday evening after a crash in Sherman that left one person injured, according to the Sherman Police Department.

Sherman police said officers responded around 6:45 p.m. May 12 to a crash at the intersection of Houston Street and Grand Avenue.

Police said man crashed into another vehicle

When officers arrived, police said their investigation found that Angel Navarro crashed into another vehicle that was already in the intersection before also striking a utility pole.

During the investigation, officers obtained evidence indicating Navarro was intoxicated at the time of the crash, Sherman police said. He was taken into custody and charged with intoxication assault, they said.

Police said an occupant in the other vehicle was injured in the crash and transported to a local hospital for treatment. The victim was reported to be in stable condition, according to police.

Sherman police said Navarro’s bond had not been set as of the time of the press release. Authorities said intoxication assault is a third-degree felony punishable by two to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000 if convicted.
