TEXARKANA, Texas — A major professional fishing event is returning to the Texarkana area this spring. City officials announced that the National Professional Fishing League (NPFL) will host a professional bass fishing tournament at Lake Wright Patman from April 19 through April 25, 2026.
According to the City of Texarkana, Texas, the tournament is expected to feature 145 boats, with anglers launching and returning daily at Wright Patman Lake. Public weigh-ins are scheduled for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at Spring Lake Park, where spectators will have the opportunity to see competitors bring in their catches. The event will award a $100,000 winner’s purse.
National Professional Fishing League Tournament will Include community outreach activities
In addition to the competition on the water, organizers say the event will include several community outreach activities during the anglers’ scheduled off-day. Planned activities include meet-and-greet opportunities, youth fishing experiences at Spring Lake Park, and visits to local schools. Selected anglers are expected to participate in these activities as representatives of the event.
Texarkana Mayor Bob Bruggeman welcomed the tournament back to the city, noting the event provides an opportunity to showcase the region.

“This tournament represents an exciting opportunity to highlight Texarkana’s natural resources, parks, and hospitality on a national stage,” Bruggeman said. “We’re proud to partner again with the NPFL and support outreach efforts that benefit the community.”
The NPFL previously held a tournament in Texarkana in 2023, which featured 94 boats and also offered a $100,000 top prize.
City officials say additional details about weigh-in schedules and community activities will be released closer to the event date.
