GORDONVILLE, Texas — The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that left a 29-year-old man dead Sunday night in the Sherwood Shores area of Gordonville, officials said.
The sheriff’s office said Alvaro Jesus Castillo-Ruiz, 29, died following a shooting at a residence in the 500 block of Oxford Drive.
Investigators are continuing to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting, the sheriff’s office said. The Texas Rangers are assisting with the investigation.
Investigators are seeking info
The sheriff’s office said investigators are seeking information from anyone who witnessed the shooting or may know anything about people, vehicles or events allegedly connected to the incident. Officials said even information that may appear insignificant could be important to the investigation.
The sheriff’s office also addressed concerns that some community members may be hesitant to contact law enforcement because of matters unrelated to the investigation.
Officials said their focus is determining what happened to Castillo-Ruiz, identifying anyone allegedly responsible and holding those individuals accountable. The sheriff’s office said a person’s immigration status is not the focus of the investigation and urged anyone with information to come forward regardless of their background or circumstances.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office dispatch at 903-813-4408 and request to speak with an investigator.
The sheriff’s office said the investigation remains active and additional information will be released when appropriate.
