POTTSBORO, Texas — The Pottsboro Independent School District Board of Trustees accepted the retirement and resignation of Superintendent Dr. Kevin Matthews during a special meeting Wednesday night, according to the district.
The board also appointed Rick DeMasters as interim superintendent, Pottsboro ISD said.
District officials said DeMasters brings decades of experience in school administration and will provide leadership as the board begins the search for the district’s next superintendent.

Pottsboro ISD thanked Matthews for his service to the district and welcomed DeMasters to what it called the “Cardinal family.”
The district did not announce when the superintendent search will begin or provide additional details about Matthews’ departure.
