TEXARKANA, USA — Historic downtown Texarkana will come alive the evening of March 13th. The quarterly Downtown LIVE event returns from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Downtown live will feature live art, after-hours shopping, open houses, and special promotions throughout the downtown district.
Several businesses will stay open late for the event, offering visitors exclusive deals and a chance to explore downtown shops and attractions, Main Street Texarkana said. Hart’s on Broad plans to offer 25 percent off merchandise along with complimentary refreshments. Crystal Moon will host visitors for a tour of its new showroom.
Downtown Live will feature Open house tours
This edition of Downtown LIVE will also include open-house tours of several historic buildings. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore The Texarkanan, the former Texarkana National Bank building, as well as the future home of Kilwins, located in the building that once housed Alexander’s Jewelers on Broad Street.
Guests can also tour the Museum of Regional History, located in the oldest surviving building in downtown Texarkana.
“Downtown Live is a celebration of what makes Texarkana special,” said Ana Willis, director of the Texarkana Museums System. “We are proud to open the museum and invite visitors to experience the rich history that anchors our downtown and connects us to one another.”
During the event, visitors are encouraged to stop by locally owned restaurants and entertainment spots throughout downtown. Cafe Lucille is expected to feature live music from The Moss Brothers, while local artist Erica Zofcin will create artwork during the evening as part of the event’s live art experience.
